The company where I work has an IT portal. It is your entrance to get help from the IT department.

A parish can be a portal to find help to connect to God and to a parish community. I know, I still am still dreaming.

A Portal May Be An Exit

You can get in through a portal. Through the same portal you can get out as well, helpless and forgotten.

Number One Concern

My biggest concern with parishes is their exit function. People disconnect easily. The number of people who freshly join my parish might be lower than the amount of people leaving my parish through the exit. Unnoticed and Unloved.

How To Respond?

Sit in 'sack and ashes.' Truly accept the pain. And wrestle with my loss.

Prayer

Jesus, I ask for gate keepers offering help at the exit portal.
