Death Announcement 20 Sep 2020
Luk 8:49 While he was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say, 'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'
You are standing in a crowd while Jesus is healing a sick woman, and your servant arrives and tells you there in the crowd: "Your daughter has died?". What would be your response?
I would be shocked, hardly being able to understand or accept the bad news.
Jesus asked the president of the synagogue to have faith, so that his daughter would be "saved".
Saved from what? The father had approached Jesus because the daughter was dying. Thus, "saved" means here "saved from death". Jesus is saviour. With him, nothing is impossible. He is God and he asks men to have faith.
