Matthew 26:27-29. A Cup 27 Nov 2023

Mat 26:27 Then he took a cup,
and when he had given thanks
he handed it to them saying,
'Drink from this, all of you,
28 for this is my blood,
the blood of the covenant,
poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 From now on,
I tell you,
I shall never again drink wine
until the day I drink the new wine
with you in the kingdom of my Father.'

There is a Jewish blessing for the cup of wine: "Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine." Catholics may recognize some of the words in the liturgy of the mass.

I should drink the blood of the covenant. I need Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins.

Jesus, thank you for the covenant you made for us.
