PSALM 6 - Charming God in Prayer 7 Nov 2019

Dutch people are very direct. Please God, give me this special favor. I forget to talk to God. I just claim. I have no idea how God feels about my request. I do not insist politely.
How different does David deal with God. He starts so polite: "Yahweh, please do not be annoyed with me. Have Mercy on me. Heal me, I am suffering." David's life is threatened, perhaps by Saul or Absalom.
There is more. David is not a childish boy. He is hurt by the attacks of those who should relate to him friendly. David had not caused trouble to Saul nor Absalom. Still they hated him. David has a style of praying of a prophet.
He can not totally control even his physical responses. Groans are stirred up in his body and tears as well. He loves his son Absalom and at least the son of Saul (Jonathan). He tells God about his struggle. He is in pain of unjust persecution. In verse 7-9 he begins to resist his enemies. God hears MY PAIN.
And then in verse 10 David makes a wise prayer: "Let all my enemies be put to confusion and be shaken to their debts, let them retreat in sudden confusion." David does not pray bad things on his enemies. A charming solution.

Psalm 6

Yahweh, let your rebuke to me not be in anger,
your punishment not in the heat of wrath.
2 Have pity on me, Yahweh, for I am fading away.
Heal me, Yahweh, my bones are shaken,
3 my spirit is shaken to its very depths.
But you, Yahweh . . . how long? 4 Yahweh, relent and save my life rescue me
because of your faithful love,
5 for in death there is no remembrance of you;
who could sing your praises in Sheol?
6 I am worn out with groaning,
every night I drench my pillow and soak my bed with tears.
7 My eyes waste away with vexation.
Arrogance from all my foes!
8 Away from me, all evil-doers!
For Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping,
9 Yahweh has heard my pleading.
Yahweh will accept my prayer.
10 Let all my enemies be put to confusion,
shaken to their depths, let them retreat in sudden confusion.
