PSALM 23 - The Goodness of God 24 Nov 2019
Once, someone asked me: "Where is it written in the bible about an eternal life?" I had a quick response: John 3:16 "So much has God loved the world , that He sent his only Son, so that all who believe in Him will have eternal life." Later, I read the full gospel of John. I found with ease 21 references to the eternal life. And now with reading the psalms, I see again many references to eternal life.
This psalm encompasses the past, present and future. The past, because David experienced the goodness of God. The present, because I experience the goodness of God. The future, because God offers us an eternal life. God prepares a table for us.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.
Psalm 23
1 [Psalm Of David]
Yahweh is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 In grassy meadows he lets me lie.
By tranquil streams he leads me 3 to restore my spirit.
He guides me in paths of saving justice as befits his name.
4 Even were I to walk in a ravine as dark as death
I should fear no danger, for you are at my side.
Your staff and your crook are there to soothe me.
5 You prepare a table for me under the eyes of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup brims over.
6 Kindness and faithful love pursue me every day of my life.
I make my home in the house of Yahweh for all time to come.
