Matthew 13:24-27. Darnel. 12 May 2023

Mat 13:24 He put another parable before them.
The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 While everybody was asleep his enemy came,
sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off.
26 When the new wheat sprouted and ripened,
then the darnel appeared as well.
27 The owner's laborers went to him and said,
"Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field?
If so, where does the darnel come from?"

The kingdom of heaven is compared to a man, a sower, who sows good seeds in his field. The enemy as well may represent a 'kingdom', as well being compared to another sower, the sower of darnel. It is not sown in his own field. I assume that the enemy does not own a field himself.

Interestingly, the wheat sprouted and ripened. The darnel appeared as well. This confused the harvesters. As if they never had seen darnel before.
It sounds like today's church. Confused by the darnel. Strange enough, they are not asking God about the quality of the seed.
God is sowing continuously good seeds. Perhaps heaven can be compared to a sower sowing good seeds in his field. May be God is our heaven, our safe place.

Jesus, please guide us in dealing with our time's darnel.
