he made the disciples get into the boat
and go on ahead to the other side
while he sent the crowds away.
23 After sending the crowds away he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone ...

Everyone had eaten. The day came to an end. I see Jesus acting. "At Once" Jesus took initiative. Everyone was send away.

Would really no-one have stayed with Jesus? Jesus did not wait. After the sending away, he went up into the hills. And he was there alone. Another miracle. Not a single person had followed him.

Prayer

Jesus, guide me into lonely places when needed.
