Song of Solomon: Called as Army 5 May 2020

An army exists to attack other nations or to defend against other nations. Over the times, nations fight. The beloveth is compared to an army. Therefore, Israel, the Church and my community are compared to an army. We have a purpose.

Intercession

Sol 6:4 says "Jerusalem is enchanting, formidable as an army." God is not indifferent for out praise and intercession. We see this in verse 5 where the beloveth should take away her eyes of the Lover: "Turn your eyes away from me, they take me by assault!" When we look at God, He is taken as by an assault. I think about adoration.

Outstanding

The beloveth is compared to sixty queens, concubines and other girls. She stands out. She is perfect. God speaks about Israel, the church and my community (the people called together by God).

Called to arise

Verse 10: "Who is this arising like the dawn, ... , formidable as an army?"
I believe it is my community, the church and Israel.
We are called to take our place as 'the beloveth' of God and to join the army we are called to be. And it is a WE, not an I

Sol 6:4-10

4 LOVER:
You are fair as Tirzah, my beloved,
enchanting as Jerusalem, formidable as an army!
5 Turn your eyes away from me, they take me by assault!
Your hair is like a flock of goats surging down the slopes of Gilead.
6 Your teeth are like a flock of ewes as they come up from being washed.
Each one has its twin, not one unpaired with another.
7 Your cheeks, behind your veil, are halves of pomegranate.
8 There are sixty queens and eighty concubines (and countless girls).
9 My dove is my only one, perfect and mine.
She is the darling of her mother,
the favourite of the one who bore her.
Girls have seen her and proclaimed her blessed,
queens and concubines have sung her praises,
10 'Who is this arising like the dawn,
fair as the moon,
resplendent as the sun,
formidable as an army?'
