Matthew 10:21-23. Betrayal 24 Mar 2023

Mat 10:21 Brother will betray brother to death,
and a father his child;
children will come forward against their parents
and have them put to death.
22 You will be universally hated on account of my name;
but anyone who stands firm to the end will be saved.
23 If they persecute you in one town,
take refuge in the next;
and if they persecute you in that,
take refuge in another.
In truth I tell you,
you will not have gone the round of the towns of Israel
before the Son of man comes.

There are some very intense messages in those verses. Clearly Jesus spoke about a future. In the end, I assume, families will split up because of Jesus. The disciples will be hated because of Jesus. They are invited to keep up the faith.

Interestingly the persecution will cause the gospel to spread to other towns of Israel. And still not all towns of Israel will be reached, before the Son of man comes. Meaning that many Jews will continue to resist Jesus.

Prayer

Jesus, have mercy on Israel and on us.

Self Evaluation

My impression is that not just Jews struggle with Jesus. I as well need to keep up the faith till the end.
