Someone needs to listen. I need to talk. Despite of both efforts, it happens frequently, that I am still not understood.
It is like two pieces of a puzzle. They need to connect. And that normally only can happen when the two communicators swap roles, at least to confirm and test what has been understood.

Based on his story, I may assume that someone is disappointed. And then, I can test: "When I listen properly, you feel disappointed and hurt. Is that correct?" When the answer is a 'yes', then we are connecting. And the understanding can be deepened.

Fortunately not everything needs to be understood. There is still place for some puzzle-pieces in life.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, teach me to listen to you and my fellow people. Teach me how to solve communication puzzles.
