Amsterdam has a special place in my heart. Today Millet returns to the Netherlands and I will meet her at Schiphol, our national airport. Schiphol is very close to Amsterdam. So I decided to do some sightseeing in Amsterdam. Just at the moment I have my coffee at Starbucks. Millet's plane is early.

Some locations I visited today.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the first cities that revolted against king Philip of Spain and against the Catholic Church.

Nevertheless the heart of Amsterdam has relatively many catholic churches. I attended mass at noon time in the church at the top right picture. The other building at the right hand side holds a text: God roept u.,and Jesus loves you. Some 20 years ago I did a Summer of Service with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). A three weeks of summer evangelization mission. We had quite special prayer sessions in the basement of the building. I learned interesting things in life with evangelizing. Usually I have similar bad habits as the people I meet on the street.

The two lower images are at a location called: Begijnenhof. A location where wealthy unmarried women lived a life of prayer. There in the garden, I made one of the most important decisions in my life.
