1Co 12:10 to another, the working of miracles;
to another, prophecy;
to another, the power of distinguishing spirits;
to one, the gift of different tongues
and to another, the interpretation of tongues.

Saint Paul describes five kinds of unfamiliar gifts. I assume those gifts have been made available to believers for the good of the kingdom of God.

Power Of Distinguishing Spirits

Why is this gift marked as a power? Perhaps once I know the name of an evil spirit, I may have power over it, him or her. When a spirit is hidden it may have control over me.
And if I do not want to know the name of a bad spirit or character in me? I am ignoring it. I am abusing that spirit to my own advantage. I allow that spirit to hurt me and other people.

Prayer

Jesus, please grant me the courage to face my bad spirits.
