Matthew 16:16-19. Identities 25 Jun 2023

Mat 16:16 Then Simon Peter spoke up and said,
'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'
17 Jesus replied,
'Simon son of Jonah, you are a blessed man!
Because it was no human agency that revealed this to you
but my Father in heaven.
18 So I now say to you:
You are Peter and on this rock I will build my community.
And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven:
whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven;
whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.'

Not far from where you find identities, talents, communities, you as well will find the Devil. The Devil likes to use my identity and my talent. And to make it very clear: frequently I let him use those. That happens where I forget to love and respect. I as well may deny my identity or talent.

Jesus builds his community on Saint Peter, the Rock.
I read, that the kingdom of Heaven has keys, in multiple. Thus there is more than one key to heaven. Would God never change the locks?

Jesus, teach me about caring for and protecting identities and talents.
