Mat 16:20 Then he gave the disciples strict orders
not to say to anyone that he was the Christ.

I am supposed to make Christ known. The disciples had as future mission to make Jesus known as the Christ. And now, they are instructed to tell nobody. Do I miss something?

What could be a reason? Some thoughts:
1. Jesus wanted to protect the disciples against accusations of blasphemy.
2. Jesus wanted to protect them all against idolatry, e.g. being treated as hero or the one to drive out the Romans.

Jesus, what would you tell me in those days about presenting you as the Christ? What are my misconceptions about You?
