1 Corinthians 14:18-19 In The Assembly 23 July 2024

1Co 14:18 I thank God that I speak with tongues more than any of you;
19 all the same, when I am in the assembly
I would rather say five words with my mind,
to instruct others as well,
than ten thousand words in a tongue.

For many years, the Catholic Church celebrated mass in the Latin language. Nevertheless, as far as I know, the preaching was done in the local language. Thus the audience could be built up with words from the mind.

No Babbling

It shall be clear that no one likes to hear ten thousand words in an unknown language. I already struggle with hearing ten words that I can not understand.

Prayer

Jesus, help with instruction.
