Matthew 18:18. Amen For Heaven 21 Jul 2023

Mat 18:18 'In truth I tell you,
whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven;
whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

We are back to some 'In truth I tell you' statements of Jesus. I found them only in the Matthew, Mark and Luke gospels. It sounds like an 'Amen I say to you.' The 'Amen' appears to be the original Greek word used in the NT.

Now My Truth

Jesus speaks first to the disciples, who wanted to know the greatest in heaven. Second, I am reminded to the words of the 'Our Father': on earth as in heaven. I am hearing in vs 18:18 something like, 'What I say on earth, will have validity in heaven.' I better watch my mouth.

Prayer

Jesus, guide me in speaking well about people and communities.
