Zechariah. Unwalled City. 2:8b-9. 12 January 2025

Zec 2:8b Run, and tell that young man this,
"Jerusalem is to remain unwalled,
because of the great number of men and cattle inside.
9 For I -- Yahweh declares --
shall be a wall of fire all round her
and I shall be the Glory within her." '

Walls Of Jerusalem

Would Jerusalem be unwalled at the time of Jesus? I just quote from the Internet (www.conformingtojesus.com/charts-maps/en/jerusalem_in_jesus_time_map.htm): The WALLS were a high stone wall that surrounded the entire city, about 4 miles long. In the time of Jesus, it protected an area of about a square mile, where about 25,000 people lived.

Cattle

One time walking in Auckland, New Zealand, I observed: 'We have driven a part of the creation, the animals, out of the city."

Jesus, I pray for your protection of cattle and animals in our cities and in this world.
