Zechariah. Thieves And Perjury. 5:1-4. 25 January 2025
Zec 5:1 Again raising my eyes, I had a vision. There was a flying scroll.
Zec 5:2 The angel who was talking to me said,
'What do you see?'
I replied,
'I see a flying scroll;
it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.'
3 He then said to me,
'This is God's curse sweeping across the face of the whole country;
for, according to what it says on one side,
every thief will be banished and,
according to what it says on the other,
everyone who commits perjury in my name will be banished from it.
4 I am going to release it
-- Yahweh Sabaoth declares --
for it to enter the house of the thief
and of anyone who commits perjury in my name,
for it to settle deep within his house and consume it,
timber, stone and all.'

Curse On Thieves
I don't know if Zechariah was still in Babylon at the time of the vision or in Israel.
I am however sure that I am not blameless. Given this curse, I would prefer not to steal in the country of this curse.
Perhaps, the vision is about the coming kingdom of God?
Curse On Perjury
When I lie and cover myself with the Name of God, I will be in deep trouble. What would that mean if I broke up a marriage?
Prayer
Jesus, protect my mouth from using the Name of God falsely. Help me to seek reconciliation where I violated your good instructions.
