Zechariah. Seven Lamps. 4:1-3. 21 January 2025

Zec 4:1 The angel who was talking to me
came back and roused me as though rousing someone who was asleep.
2 And he asked me,
'What do you see?'
I replied,
'As I look, there is a lamp-stand
entirely of gold with a bowl at the top of it;
it holds seven lamps, with seven openings for the lamps on it.
3 By it are two olive trees,
one to the right and the other to the left.'

Sleep And Visions

In my sleep, I seldom hear questions. Usually I see rather chaotic images and movies in my dreams. The pictures are far from realistic. But here I deal with a prophetic visionary.

Lamp Stand With Openings

The openings make the lamp stand different from the famous Jewish 7-armed candle holder. The olive trees may provide oil for the lamps.

Prayer

Jesus, I ask for oil for my lamp and instruction for the work your Father invites me to do.
