Confession. Kinds of Sin. 18 Jan 2024

The Catholic Church gives a complicated explanation. Over life time, each of us will struggle with some 'not-so-good-things-I-have-done.' Frequently we are aware. But not always.

From the CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH 1849: Sin is an offense against reason, truth, and right conscience; it is failure in genuine love for God and neighbor caused by a perverse attachment to certain goods. It wounds the nature of man and injures human solidarity. It has been defined as "an utterance, a deed, or a desire contrary to the eternal law."

Grace and Mercy

I may feel guilty, ashamed and perhaps worthless. God however likes to restore me into His grace and peace. For me it is not an easy thing to overcome sin. I need patience with my own faults. Confession helps. I really appreciate help in the process of overcoming my unwanted behaviors.

Hidden Sins

I am not always aware about my shortcomings and sins. Half of my sins may be in the refusal to relate to and care for others. Frequently I am bullying others with unrealistic expectations, including criticism and anger. There is a lot of voidness in my life. Unused time and empty pleasures.

Prayer

Jesus, I ask for grace and light on my path, so that I love and care more.
