My Internet dictionary says: an amaryllis is a bulbous plant with showy trumpet-shaped flowers and strap-shaped leaves. In the Netherlands we like them because they blossom early in the spring and they are very colorful.

Meaning

The amaryllis commonly means determination, beauty, and love. The flower has a proud appearance. The flower's pollen cause stains which are hard to remove.
