Antenna 24 Sep 2018

Internet research frequently surprises me. Antenna is the Latin word for sail yard on a ship. It is also used for the sensing horn of insects.

I know the word best as a device that translates radio waves in electrical information. Without antenna a mobile phone is dead and a TV receiver only produces noise or a black screen.

Enabler of communication

Without antennas there is no radio communication. Insects sense with their antennas.

The question may arise whether human beings have antennas. We can communicate!

Sensitive

Some persons have great antennas when other people talk about them. They become very sensitive. Their antennas work.

We can learn from radios. They have selectivity. With the same antenna the radio can be tuned to lovely music or to bad noise.

I can learn to tune to correct and useful information.
