Song of Solomon: The Body 9 May 2020
Sol 7:2b-6 describes the body of the beloved. The description runs from the feet towards the head.
The head of the body has a special description: the eyes, nose and head are compared to items located in Israel.
Thus Israel appears to be the head of the 'people which God calls together'.
Body and Gifts of Spirit
1 Cor 12 connects the body with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
1Co 12:11 But at work in all these (gifts of the Spirit) is one and the same Spirit, distributing them at will to each individual.
1Co 12:12 For as with the human body which is a unity although it has many parts -- all the parts of the body, though many, still making up one single body -- so it is with Christ.
In my opinion, a community ought to be a place where the gifts of the Spirit flourish.
The curve of your thighs
is like the curve of a necklace,
work of a master hand.
3 Your navel is a bowl well rounded
with no lack of wine,
your belly a heap of wheat
surrounded with lilies.
4 Your two breasts are two fawns,
twins of a gazelle.
5 Your neck is an ivory tower.
Your eyes, the pools of Heshbon,
by the gate of Bath-Rabbim.
Your nose, the Tower of Lebanon,
sentinel facing Damascus.
6 Your head is held high like Carmel,
and its hair is as dark as purple;
a king is held captive in your tresses.
The head is in Qatar.
It has not yet been in Israel.
