Mouth 2 Jan 2019

Psalm 51:15

O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.

Catechesis

Every first Wednesday of the month, father Wilmink teaches catechesis in our parish. Today I attended the instruction. I like to write a personal summary of the notes I made.

The old has gone

This morning we had an introduction to Hebrews 13.

Prayer

Prayer is important. Wherever I go, He (God) is present. And when I pray He will make way in all things happening in my day. Our life and time are intended to bring His blessing into the world. We should start all activity with a small prayer, even with doing simple things as riding our bicycle. Our purpose is to bring Him, who is our blessing, wherever we go and to acknowledge Him at those places.

Hebrews chapter 13 holds many excellent suggestions for intercessory prayer.

So: how do I spend my time?

What am I doing repeatedly, day by day, every week, or less frequent?
Who are my daily contacts?
Important with time is, what we do in that time. What is central in the things that keep me busy?

We all live with everyday routine which by times hinders effectiveness. Remember that God's grace always materializes in our nature (our activity).

Do we grant God access to the most trivial and the most complex things in our life?

Faithfulness

Faithfulness is living truly connected.

We all have favorite subjects that we repeatedly raise up. They may however hinder us to let Christ be first. If such happens, that needs correction.

Growing into community is a challenge. We should present ourselves as community to the world. We are supposed to build up lives of others with the blessings which God has entrusted to us.
