PSALM 98 - Abundant Joy 8 Feb 2020

In the Netherlands we do have an abundance of flowers and an abundance of water. In the Catholic worship there is however little joy. We have not learned to be joyful in the presence of God.

Joy in Psalm

God expects abundant joy in worship. When leading his people out of Egypt he said to Pharao, let my people celebrate for 3 days. Pharao refused. In the psalms, frequently great joy and abundant expression in worship is displayed.

Presence of God

The presence of God should bring forth fruits of love, peace, joy and more goodies. And not just in a life in paradise. The abundance of God is promised for those who love Him. And for many years I had little idea how to do that. When I invited God to teach me how to love him, my life changed. And over the years the joy creeps little by little in my heart.

Psalm 98

1 [Psalm]
Sing a new song to Yahweh,
for he has performed wonders,
is saving power is in his right hand and his holy arm.
2 Yahweh has made known his saving power,
revealed his saving justice for the nations to see,
3 mindful of his faithful love
and his constancy to the House of Israel.
The whole wide world has seen the saving power of our God.
4 Acclaim Yahweh, all the earth, burst into shouts of joy!
5 Play to Yahweh on the harp, to the sound of instruments;
6 to the sound of trumpet and horn, acclaim the presence of the King.
7 Let the sea thunder, and all that it holds,
the world and all who live in it.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands,
and the mountains shout for joy together,
9 at Yahweh's approach,
for he is coming to judge the earth;
he will judge the world with saving justice
and the nations with fairness.
