PSALM 113 - Song of Love 23 Feb 2020

God promises me that He shall love me. I trust His promises. I feel beloved. Therefore I love to sing His praises. A song of love for my Creator.

The promise of God is everlasting. Nevertheless I am able to refuse His love. How does a sane person loose the love of a trustworthy lover?

There is a word for that: unfaithfulness. The usual root is that I break a rule of a covenant, or perhaps a law or an agreement. I do things which offend my lover. And I know I did so.

The trust in my lover needs repair. I need to ask sincerely forgiveness. I need to reconcile with all people which I have hurt or offended. Then God will stoop down and look down on the earth (vs 6-8) and raise me from the dust.

Psalm 113

1 Alleluia! Praise, servants of Yahweh,
praise the name of Yahweh.
2 Blessed be the name of Yahweh,
henceforth and for ever.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting,
praised be the name of Yahweh!
4 Supreme over all nations is Yahweh,
supreme over the heavens his glory.
5 Who is like Yahweh our God
His throne is set on high,
6 but he stoops to look down on heaven and earth.
7 He raises the poor from the dust,
he lifts the needy from the dunghill,
8 to give them a place among princes,
among princes of his people.
9 He lets the barren woman be seated at home,
the happy mother of sons.
