PSALM 112 - Served, If 22 Feb 2020

If ... I live in the fear of the Lord,
then God will solve all my problems.
It sounds easy and desirable. Unfortunately, no-one is without sin or blameless. And I am certainly not. I hesitate.

What Hinders?

Four things come to my mind.
1. Unbelief. I do not really trust God to care for all my needs. I am not even giving Him a chance to prove His promises. Although I took "risks" in my life. Especially in the financial domain. Being honest, I never depended totally on God.
2. My fear and shame. I am afraid to fail. (Actually it would be God who fails!). I am ashamed that I may become dependent on family, friends and others.
3. My sins and faults. My lack of purity and Holiness. I know this is an area of continuous growth. I know that God is willing to forgive when I confess my sin. A remaining question is, if I find myself worthy enough to serve God. If I can forgive myself.
4. Blaming others and comparing to others. I may blame others for not willing to join me in the journey. I am hurting and compromising my own worthiness and childhood of God. That should not depend on others. I may be waiting for approval from an authority, father or even God himself. I should live out my own maturity in being an free follower of my good Shepherd.

Psalm 112

1 Alleluia! How blessed is anyone who fears Yahweh,
who delights in his commandments!
2 His descendants shall be powerful on earth,
the race of the honest shall receive blessings:
3 Riches and wealth for his family;
his uprightness stands firm for ever.
4 For the honest he shines as a lamp in the dark,
generous, tender-hearted, and upright.
5 All goes well for one who lends generously,
who is honest in all his dealing;
6 for all time to come he will not stumble,
for all time to come the upright will be remembered.
7 Bad news holds no fears for him,
firm is his heart, trusting in Yahweh.
8 His heart held steady, he has no fears,
till he can gloat over his enemies.
9 To the needy he gives without stint,
his uprightness stands firm for ever;
his reputation is founded on strength.
10 The wicked are vexed at the sight,
they grind their teeth and waste away.
The desires of the wicked will be frustrated.
