Phony is a word referring to phone quality sound. Not real, not easy to understand, as if all last syllables are missing. Applied to a person it may mean, not transparent, not honest, not reliable.
I am sure that by times others may feel that I am phony. As a Christian, I am certainly phony. I would not expect that others experience me as Christ-like. Thus I am a phony imitator of Christ.
I smile. It is already a joy for me to try to imitate Christ. I do have a purpose. When Christ would say to me that I am a lousy disciple, I would be very happy. At least I would be recognized as a disciple.
