Accountability With Coaching 26 Feb 2026

To give account to someone else means that you explain what you have done about a certain task or problem. Making oneself accountable to another person may be helpful for various reasons:
1. It combats procrastination. Someone waits to see the result of my actions. I made a commitment or promise. I do not like to disappoint my boss, coach, friend, or partner.
2. In a team the other members can see whether my part in the teamwork is done, makes progress or has failed. In the last case no-one is waiting for something that never will come. More than that someone else can come up with help.
3. With coaching, my coach can help me to evaluate: 'What happened? What did not go as well as expected. Is there any kind of help or support to get the task done.

Procrastination

I procrastinate the execution of various tasks. There may be a repeated 'I can do it tomorrow.'
There can be more serious reasons. E.g. I may fear to fail doing the task well. I may be rejected. I may be criticized. I may not be good enough. I fear the outcome of the action I am supposed to execute.

Accountable

Accountable is somewhat different. I may be made liable for the damage I have done. I may loose my job.

Prayer

Jesus, I ask for a safe place where I can benefit from accountability.
