Matthew 7:28-29. Teaching with Authority. 19 Feb 2023

Mat 7:28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on the people 29 because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes.

The words "Their own scribes" intrigue me. Some thoughts:
1. The bible considers Jesus as a scribe?
2. People may choose their own 'scribe' who may not even have some authority.
3. What would show the 'authority' of Jesus?
4. His teaching made deep impression.

When I read the sermon on the mount (Matt 5-7), I find in myself a desire to act on the described themes, even when I lack the required skills. Jesus uses the word 'act on'. He knows I cannot master it all just today.

Jesus, I thank you for your wise and realistic expectations on me.
