Matthew 7:3-5. Splinter and Log. 10 Feb 2023

Mat 7:3 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own? 4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is a great log in your own? 5 Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you will see clearly enough to take the splinter out of your brother's eye.

The log in my eye, what could that be? I will make two attempts:
1. I complain about things I do myself as well, and probably much worse. In my life, that happens regularly. And I am ashamed about that. I even feel a bit silly when I observe my unfriendly criticism.
2. Vs 6:22 told me: "the eye is the lamp of the body." And now there is a log in my eye. Following verse 6:23, I must conclude that my whole body will be darkness. I am not so clear what that means. I would like to remove the log out of my eye. It may hurt. What would the log look like? I guess, the magnified splinter which I claim to see in the eye of my brother.

Prayer

Come Holy Spirit, where my body is darkness, guide me how to remove the log out of my eye.

Self Evaluation

I am learning amazingly little from my critical observations. I look in the wrong direction. Darkness is a tough thing.
