Matthew 7:24-27. House on Rock. 18 Feb 2023

Mat 7:24 Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.
25 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fall: it was founded on rock.
26 But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand.
27 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!

Jesus is close to the end of his sermon on the mount. As soon as I have heard those words of Jesus, I am confronted with a choice. I can act on the words of Jesus or I can ignore them.
To be crystal clear:
You can say I build my house on Jesus, the rock, and I am safe. That is not what the scripture explains. Building on the rock requires that I act according the words of Jesus.

Prayer

Jesus, I ask for courage, wisdom and love to act on your words.

Self Evaluation

More often than 'acting on', I find myself ignoring the wise advice of Jesus.
