John7:37-39

Let anyone who is thirsty come to me! Let anyone who believes in me come and drink! As scripture says, 'From his heart shall flow streams of living water.' 39 He was speaking of the Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive; for there was no Spirit as yet because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Offering a drink

This afternoon Millet and I went out to drink a coffee and eat some cake in a small restaurant. We were kindly transported by another couple, and we decided to invite them to join us in the coffee drinking.

We entered the restaurant but the couple did not want to order a drink and cake. I felt inconvenient and we left the restaurant. Kindly they brought us to another restaurant. I explained them that I felt uncomfortable with just me drinking coffee and the others not.

The second attempt.

We went in and none of us was comfortable. Before we entered the restaurant I had send a small prayer to God, to bless our time together. And God did. We ordered nice cakes and drinks and we got seated in a quiet and pleasant corner.

Story

We were told the following story:
Remember, last year you had given us a book, 'Hand in hand with the Holy Spirit' We have read the book and we really have been blessed by the reading. And we did not just stop with the reading. We have practiced inviting the Holy Spirit in all kind of situations. Wherever I go, I have no more fear. We want to serve the people in our community.

The Holy Spirit is an offer that needs to be accepted

It is as with the coffee drinking invitation. An offer of a gift needs to be accepted. We need to learn to practice cooperating with the Holy Spirit. We need to invite and the trust and act.

I want to be where the water flows.
