Zechariah. Opening. Zec 1:1-3. 27 December 2024

Zec 1:1 In the second year of Darius,
in the eighth month,
the word of Yahweh was addressed to the prophet Zechariah
(son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as follows,
2 'Yahweh was deeply angry with your ancestors.
3 So say this to them,
"Yahweh Sabaoth says this:
Return to me -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares --
and I will return to you, says Yahweh Sabaoth.

Who is speaking?

This is an easy question. God is speaking to Zechariah. He instructs Zechariah to talk to his ancestors: Berechiah and Iddo.
Did they still live? Or am I understanding the text incorrect?

Zecheriah's Emotions

I am wondering how the prophet would have felt to speak against his ancestors: his father and his grandfather. Not an easy task.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for instructing the prophet to whom to talk.
