Matthew 4:5-7. Second Test 9 Dec 2022

Mat 4:5 The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple. 6 'If you are Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down; for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, and they will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.' 7 Jesus said to him, 'Scripture also says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'

If you are the Son of God? And why does this question come on the top of the temple? Perhaps many 'religious' persons would be watching Him and then see that Jesus would 'fly' on the wings of angels. Jesus did not have the urge to show that He was the Son of God.
The devil took Him ... A kind of dislocation. Does the devil have such a power? I assume that God the Father had granted the devil that power for a purpose. For according to vs 4:1 God had sent Jesus to the desert to be put to the test. It appears to me that God limits the powers he gives to anyone and anything. For our good.

It could be that the devil just tried to let Jesus kill Himself.

Prayer

Father God, I thank you that you have set boundaries on my powers. And I thank you for your patience with me.

Self Evaluation

Yes, when I follow my instincts, I can do any sin. I as well can put God to the test.
