PSALM 54 - Betrayed 25 Dec 2019
Something common among David and Jesus is that they both have been persecuted. Their goodness has been repaid with hate. It could however be that many people were afraid for the power of both David and Jesus. Most humans like to resist the power of leaders.
Which people do I trust?
Do or did I really trust my father and mother? Do I trust my brothers and sisters? Do I trust my colleagues and boss?
I may be afraid for punishment or criticism. I may be jealous. I may have many fears. By time for things that are unrealistic. It damages my trust in others. It damages my trust in life. It damages my joy in life. And finally I betray myself.
Prayer
Father God, help me to find the courage to face where I do not trust others around and do not trust you. Please grant me courage to trust other people and to trust life. There is no other way to a joyful life. Help me to find trust to act and respond and even to find courage to make mistakes in my own life. Please help me not to betray myself. I want life in your fullness.

Poem Of David
When the Ziphites went to Saul and said,
'Is not David hiding with us?']
God, save me by your name,
in your power vindicate me.
2 God, hear my prayer,
listen to the words I speak.
3 Arrogant men are attacking me,
bullies hounding me to death,
no room in their thoughts for God. Pause
4 But now God is coming to my help,
the Lord, among those who sustain me.
5 May their wickedness recoil on those
who lie in wait for me.
Yahweh, in your constancy destroy them.
6 How gladly will I offer you sacrifice,
and praise your name, for it is good,
7 for it has rescued me from all my troubles,
and my eye has feasted on my enemies.
