Hosea 4:15b+16
do not go to Beth-Aven,
do not swear oaths "by Yahweh's life",
for Israel is stubborn
as a stubborn heifer,
so is Yahweh likely to pasture him
like a lamb in a broad meadow?

Ordinary Language

I read a Dutch bible translation using ordinary language (Bijbel in Gewone Taal). I liked the 'interpretation':

Do not go to the 'House of Evil' (not the Jerusalem Temple).
And never say that I, the Lord, agree with your lies (swearing).
If the people of Israel (not Judah) resist me as a stubborn young cow, how then can I care for them?
