Helvoirt is a small village halfway 's Hertogenbosch and Tilburg. By car it is a 45 minutes drive from Eindhoven. Just outside the village amidst various farms is a previous monastery. It is named Emmaus and presently it is a Catholic Retreat Centre.

Emmaus

Emmaus hosts all kind of group meetings up to roughly 300 persons. Most groups have Christian roots. Incidentally Emmaus hosts a party or a small business oriented group.

The aim is to offer an affordable accommodation and this can only be realised with the help of a large group of volunteers.

Team Emmaus

The Emmaus property is owned by the Diocese of 's Hertogenbosch in cooperation with a managing foundation. All has been started from the Emmanuel Community and has been made possible thanks to the generous help of Piet and Trude Derksen some 35 years ago. The property is staffed by roughly 3 couples and a few employees. The volunteers are frequently committed (without any promise or obligation) over periods of many decades.

And that is for a good reason. Emmaus is a great place to serve. Nice location. Nice people. Great meals. Nice work. And a possibility to be a blessing for several days to some other people whom frequently are totally unknown. All happens in an atmosphere of love, joy and hard work.
