Matthew 12:23-24. Two Discernments 20 Apr 2023

Mat 12:23 All the people were astounded and said,
'Can this be the son of David?'
24 But when the Pharisees heard this they said,
'The man drives out devils only through Beelzebul,
the chief of the devils.'

What would 'the son of David' be? Anyway, it sounds way more friendly than the Pharisees' response.
How could the Pharisees know by what power Jesus drove out devils?
My knowledge on driving out devils is pretty limited.
