Song of Solomon: Stored Fruits 11 May 2020
God has good things in store for us. 1 Cor 2:9 says:
What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, what the mind of man cannot visualise; all that God has prepared for those who love him;
In Sol 7, the Lover leads the Beloveth into the fields, the place where we work. And already early in the morning we see the plants budding. And then the Lover presents the gifts of his love. Fresh fruits and stored fruits. God has prepared those for the community he calls together.
They however need to receive it by working together with God in the vineyard. Observe the three 'if's in the text of Song of Songs.
12 Come, my love, let us go to the fields.
We will spend the night in the villages,
13 and in the early morning we will go to the vineyards.
We will see if the vines are budding,
if their blossoms are opening,
if the pomegranate trees are in flower.
Then I shall give you the gift of my love.
14 The mandrakes yield their fragrance,
the most exquisite fruits are at our doors;
the new as well as the old,
I have stored them for you, my love.
