David's Census 14 October 2024

Millet, my wife, spoke about the story where David conducted a census. And God was angry with him. The story is told in 2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21.

The Start Of The Story

2Sa 24:1 Again, Yahweh's anger was aroused against Israel,
and he incited David against them.
'Go,' he said, 'take a census of Israel and Judah.'

1Ch 21:1 Satan took his stand against Israel
and incited David to take a census of Israel.

Is that really the same story? In both versions, the response was against Israel.
And Yes, in both stories David took responsibility for Israel, "I sinned.", for he as a king felt responsible.

What good came forth from it?
God pointed out a new place for worship.
The location of the temple to be constructed by Solomon.

Prayer

Jesus, please honor those who take responsibility for the people.
